After owning many Mac laptops, I must say the Retina display is VERY sensitive to scratches. I take good care of my stuff and I still wonder how it happened (never happened before). Anyway, I got two scratches (like tiny holes) on the display. I tried to buff one out and it did not help, since it made it glossy and the display is mate. I thought of using a resin, like the ones used to repair cracked glass on cars, but I would like to know if someone have used it before.

@james holdman: I thought the warranty doesn't cover accidental physical damage :I have a pinhead dent on my screen which has resulted in 2 dead pixels. My mac is less than a month old :( I have no idea how it got there and applecare told me that the warranty doesn't cover physical damage (including scratches) even if it wasn't intentional.

This thread is A bit old but still relevant. My answer to how the pin head scratches or chips happen is the MagSafe 2 power connector. If it ever smacks onto the screen or the case of MacBook it will chip it very easily. It's not hard to do because the thin rubbery cable can swing around when handling it. The hard metal edges of the connector do the rest. I think it's the only design flaw of the otherwise fantastic mbp. I have 3 chips on my case and twice have I had tiny chips on the screen. Very annoying for me today because I just had the screen replaced.

I used to repair scratched CDs with car wax. The wax fills in the microscopic scratch marks and buff to a shine. Sometimes, I had to use a cotton-tipped applicator to rub the wax into the scratch so that it would be completely filled in. Visually, the scratches disappeared. And the previously unplayable scratched CD could at least be played long enough for me to make a copy. Car wax might work with laptop screens as well.

YES! This same thing happened to me on my new 16 inch macbook pro and I am absolutely mortified. Just SO SO SO glad to not be the only one with this issue. I have babied this thing like nothing before. I really think its a design problem if a speck of dust can scratch the screen just by closing the %#*@ laptop

Sam here. Bought in November 20. Now like you saying guys a 1-2 pixel small hole scratches all around the screen. ALWAYS USE MICRO FIBER CLOTH TO CLEAN THE KEYBOARDS BEFORE CLOSING DOWN but still the holes coming day by day more and more..... WHAT GLASS IS THIS? just close down a screen and the glass melt under dusts what is impossible to avoid????? 4000 USD laptop..

I reckon Apple is doing this on purpose; making the screens super fragile - since the retina hardware is basically future proof until the advent of quantum computing - I noticed after a year of use that even the keys created 100s of micro scratches from when the lid is closed...... UNREAL - Apple Care replaced it citing "problems with the display coating"; there were many other scratches too from when wiping the screen - just got it back and installed a Kuzy screen protector - it makes the screen matte and is fantastic, really like it and it reduces glare - it makes my retina pro feel like my 17 pro w matte - now I can clean the screen without destroying it within 2 months of having a new display - sorry guys but this is what happens with this new age mac products..... they have quality issues all around....

Next time use a 100 grit sandpaper it will make less of a mess! Really don't use anything on your screen you'll just make it worse! Vaseline is grease so dust & grit will collect and then when you wipe the screen you'll scratch it! Toothpaste (or sandpaper) is not much better here all you end up doing is damaging the anti-glare coatings.

Studio Display features a 27-inch 5K Retina display with 600 nits of brightness, P3 wide color, and support for 1 billion colors. Studio Display also includes a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage, studio-quality microphones, and a six-speaker sound system with support for Spatial Audio. The display has one Thunderbolt port which delivers up to 96W of charge to your Mac laptop or iPad and three USB-C ports for connecting other devices and accessories.

I am having this exact same issue with a 15" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. At first I thought it may have been a problem from having used Migration Assistant, so I wiped the machine completely and started fresh, reconfiguring from scratch (which took me an entire day since my setup is complex). I am not running the screen at full brightness, but I still get an estimated charge of 4:30 immediately after disconnecting from power at 100% charge.

Minimum free space on a scratch disk should be 6 GB for Photoshop desktop. However, this is the minimum space that Photoshop tries to keep free in the scratch disk, and the available space that Photoshop considers in a scratch disk is the 6 GB subtracted from the current free space in the disk. So, if the free space in your scratch disk is 10 GB, available space that Photoshop will consider in the scratch disk is 10 - 6 = 4 GB, which may/may not be enough for the current operation being performed.

Update (2016-07-20): I have updated this post with further improvementsrelating to downloading of Boot Camp drivers and ensuring that a Hybrid MBR isnot used (which would cause issues when installing Windows).

Note: Illustrator does not support network or removable drives as scratch disks, or folders of file sync services such as Dropbox and Google Drive. We will still try to resolve this issue so please email us.

Hi, I don't use dropbox but I do use iCloud and also I use an external server (lord knows where it is) as I work at home. The problem occurs when I use the the drawing tools and then try to save to my desktop which is connected to iCloud. It doesn't happen when I update a drawing using the data plotting devices. I am running OS 10.13.1 on an 2015 iMac and also a 2016 MacBook Pro also running OS 10.13.1. Running Adobe Illustrator 2018 version. Thanks

Ryan BurgessWelcome to the 24th episode of the front end, happy hour. It's the very first episode of 2017. And we're all really excited for a brand new year of interesting topics and discussions. To kick off the new year we'll be discussing the trends that happened in 2016. In this episode, we discuss and share our opinions of things that have happened to the front end community over the past year. Before we get started, let's go around the table and introduce today's panelists. Maurice, you want to start off? Sure.Mars JullianHi, I'm Mars Jullian. I'm a senior front end engineer at Netflix.

Ryan BurgessYou can call yourself whatever you want. And I'm Ryan Burgess. I'm a software engineering manager at Netflix. In each episode of the front end, Happy Hour podcast, we like to choose a keyword that if it's mentioned at all, in the episode, we will all take a drink. What did we decide today's episode, top keyword is trends, trends. So if any of us say the word trends, we will all take a drink. All right, well, let's get started. I would love to hear what are some notable things that happened in 2016.

Ryan AnklamSo I think the first thing that comes to mind for me is that we finally started questioning react a little bit and we started looking at other alternatives, things like pre act started coming into play a little bit, Vue js and a whole other host of kind of things that are making us look at just pulling in react as a default framework for front end projects. I think that was a huge thing that started happening and towards the end of 2016.

Ryan BurgessYeah, I think that's a really interesting one. And like you have another one that I just learned about, actually, this year was Inferno I, but I think that was around in 2016, as well. 2ff7e9595c
